A quick resume

I work in a variety of media:

Fabric, threads, paint, paper, canvas and more.

I use a variety of supplies:

My own hand dyed fabrics and threads, journals, sketchbooks, printing materials…… and much more.

I use a sewing machine, an embellisher, paint brushes and lots, lots more.

You will meet some of them –

The next post will give you a round up of my current daily work. It doesn’t amount to much as I am only recently out of hospital and meant to be taking it easy.

Thanks for reading.

Coffee and squares

My early morning coffee is my favourite drink of the day. It isn’t for the caffeine intake but it’s the only time of day I know I can enjoy silence.

I enjoy the time spent with my crochet, but that is usually later in the day with much more going on around me.

My early morning activity is to make my Nine Patch. This gets my creative juices flowing and the day begins in earnest. Today’s Nine Patch was made with a printout of my 2017 Instagram colours courtesy of Maybe I’ll make another wish the leftovers at some point.

Have a great day everyone.

So long …?

Goodness! Months!

Blankets finished, coffees drunk and days passed by!

Are you joining in with #365somethings2018 ? It’s a challenge to make something – however small – during the year, and have 365 T the end. It doesn’t have to be daily, it could be two today and none tomorrow, or 30 once a month, or … well I’m sure you get the idea.

I’m doing my daily crochet Temperature square and continuing with the nine patch.

Oh yes!

And drinking coffee 😉

So much for daily posts!

Not that they were intended, but I had expected to post something before now. Life does strange things. What’s the saying? ‘Man proposes, but God disposes’. That is certainly true.

Here is my latest completed blanket

An unusual colour combination- I thoroughly enjoyed its making.

Just finishing the first ball of the next. And I’ve been briefly stitching again

More to do on this. Possibly the next step is to cut up and rearrange.

Daily does it

It’s so easy to sit back and think ‘nothing inspires me’. It’s so easy to lose the ‘mojo’ and drift away from any sort of art practice.

I have been very blessed to have several mentors at various times in my life. One in particular was a great encouragement and influence before her untimely death. She instilled into me the need for practising daily. She described it as flexing the creative muscles. This daily routine doesn’t need to fulfil all the satisfaction of creating a Life’s work – in fact – more often than not it will be just doing SOMETHING to keep those muscles flexed.

That’s where I am at the moment. I am daily flexing my muscles. It is second nature to do something now – whether it’s a little ninepatch collage

or a few dabs of paint on an index card

It may not seem much – but all the time the creative juices keep flowing and ideas are constantly popping into my head. I don’t waste those thoughts and ideas. I make notes in my journal.
